Primary Job Responsibilities
This opportunity is to work for one of the most challenging groups at eBay - Trust & Safety. The charter of the Trust & Safety group is to develop software that helps proactively prevent fraud, catch fraud, catch eBay policy violations, enforce policy violations as well as collect data that helps build future Trust and Safety strategies. Running behind virtually any functionality on the site and being arguably one of the largest consumers and producers of data on it, Trust & Safety systems combine both extremely high volume and enormous complexity. We are currently building tools to monitor and support Trust & Safety systems, as well as troubleshoot and triage issues related to them.
We provide challenging, fast paced work environment with plenty of growth opportunities. The person in this role should become an expert in eBay’s Trust & Safety Platform. He/she will independently investigate technical issues (whether caused by software bugs, system misconfiguration or data corruption), and communicate recommendations and solutions. In addition this person will work on definition, design, implementation and testing of complex monitoring/troubleshooting tools. This role assumes the ability to work across multiple programming languages, large-scale systems and databases

Basic Qualifications
- BA/BS in CS (or equivalent) and 5+ years related industry experience (or MA/MS and 3+ yrs.)
- Solid grasp of Java language and its core APIs
- Solid Perl programming skills highly desirable
- Sound understanding of database issues, SQL, data modeling, specifically Oracle
