Primary Job Responsibilities
In the role you’ll help create the future user experience of the eBay Marketplace by designing the interactions and interfaces which will engage our customers. At the core you’ll transform unmet user needs and business opportunities into successful product launches thru the use of design thinking and the ability to collaborate and work effectively with software developers. We’re evolving from a mostly static user interface on eBay to more rich and interactive experiences experience so it is important to have good depth with new front-end technologies (e.g. AJAX, Adobe Flex/AIR). Our management team will focus on enhancing your abilities, expanding possibilities of your designs, and helping you achieve a fulfilling career path.

Finally, we’re looking for someone who actively participates (or would like to) in the design community and who is looking to maintain or expand the current role they’re playing thru talks, conferences, and networking. Experience working on complex ecommerce sites and as an eBay Seller is highly desirable.

Here’s what you’ll do:

· Create and articulate your Point of View and influence key stakeholders to build a user centric seller roadmap
· Leverage your technical understanding to work collaboratively with software developers in delivering the best user experience
· Utilize your judgment and experience to be able to make project tradeoffs as needed
· Mentor and collaborate with other designers
· Define the behavior of the site and how to significantly improve the selling experience on eBay
· Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging interactions
· Define site information architecture
· Define interaction design patterns

You will focus on the following areas:
· How to build trust on the site for buyers and sellers
· The interrelationship between buyers and sellers
· How people sell items and manage their business, inventory, communication and customer support on and off eBay Inc.

Job Requirements
· Bachelors or higher degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science or related field. Masters degree preferred.
· Excellent understanding of user experience design for the Web, technology trends, demonstrable design skills, and ability to show relevant work.
· Excellent understanding of web technologies and how to work with developers to leverage them.
· Excellent interpersonal skills and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups and to senior executives.
· Proven ability delivering high quality designs to customers.
· Experience mentoring Interaction Designers with the ability to challenge and inspire design colleagues
· Experience with ecommerce sites highly desirable, especially on Selling side.

Basic Qualifications ·
Principal Interaction Designer: At least 12 years experience as an interaction designer (Masters degree counts as 1 year)

Education Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
