Primary Job Responsibilities
eBay is looking for a Sr. User Experience Design Manager to lead a team of talented designers and content strategists.

In the role, you will lead the design of user experiences that eBay.com buyers use. You will coach your team on projects from inception to launch, enabling them to best meet their user needs and business goals—experience partnering with business and technology leaders will be critical. As we evolve from a mostly static user interface on eBay, to more rich and interactive experience, you will champion new front-end technologies (e.g. AJAX, Adobe Flex, MS Silverlight) and broaden the innovation possibilities for our user experiences. You will identify and implement process improvements and design methodologies that would make your team more efficient and effective. We expect you to mentor the designers on your team with the goal of enhancing their abilities, expanding possibilities of their designs, and helping them achieve a fulfilling career path. Finally, we are looking for someone who is active in the design community and who is looking to maintain or expand the current role they are playing thru talks, conferences, and networking.

Job Requirements
Your team would be approximately 4-5 interaction designers, visual designers and content strategists.

Key parts of your team’s role:
· Develop intuitive, usable, and engaging user experiences, with a focus on the search experience
· Define the behavior and voice of the search process
· Partnering with Product Managers and Engineers to build features and implement improvements

Your team would focus on the following:
· How people successfully search on eBay
· How buyers shop on eBay
· How sellers establish themselves as credible merchants who provide world-class buying experiences

· At least 5 years experience in a design leadership role.
· At least 10 years of design experience. Search and/or online retail website design experience a plus.
· Bachelors or higher degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Cognitive Science or related field. Masters degree preferred.
· Strong leadership and personnel management skills.
· Excellent understanding of user experience design for the Web, technology trends, demonstrable design skills, and ability to present relevant work.
· Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in small and large groups, and to all levels of the organization.
· Proven ability to lead your team to create innovative user experiences and become world-class designers.

Basic Qualifications
· At least 5 years experience in a design leadership role.
· At least 10 years of design experience. Search and/or online retail website design experience a plus.
