Primary Job Responsibilities
Ebay is seeking a Quality Engineering Manager responsible for customer facing search at eBay. We are seeking someone with a proven record of leading engineering teams in areas such machine learning, predictive heuristics, search relevance and classification. A thorough understanding of enterprise class web application testing and a keen sense for user interface design and testing is required. This Manager will be responsible for defining and driving the vision for product quality in customer facing search products at eBay. This person is expected to operate at a highly technical level focused on product quality, code and release quality, defect prevention as well as process excellence. This role also requires strong collaboration and partnership with other engineering services to influence engineering best practices and infuse quality throughout the development life cycle.

Job Requirements The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with the architecture, testing and quality of high volume, real-time transactional systems. Additionally this person will possess detailed knowledge of implementing software development best practices. Experience in testing search platforms a plus.


Basic Qualifications

- 5+ years experience in leading engineering and quality teams

- 10+ years hands-on experience in requirements analysis, design, coding and unit testing of scalable, distributed, multi-tiered, fault-tolerant applications in Windows and UNIX environments.

- 3+ years experience in working on high-volume web / eCommerce capabilities

- 3+ years object-oriented design methodology and application development. Java and Junit experience preferred.

- Expertise required in design and implementation using relational databases (prefer Oracle).

-Exposure to Ajax and Flex technologies desired.

- Outstanding presentation and written skills as well as the ability to deal effectively with both technologists and business representatives.

- Proven results oriented person with a delivery focus.

- Good time management and ability to work on concurrent assignments with different priorities

- Ability to facilitate cross functional team communications

- Self-motivated and able to work independently, and be able to thrive in a multifaceted fast-paced development environment

- Innovative approach to problem-solution

Education Masters Degree or Equivalent
